Day 10 - Eye make-up says it all

For a long time, I have utilized a strategy that I think helps to predict what kind of night I am going to have.  Up until recently, I hadn't really shared this strategy with anyone.  But once I explained my theory and how accurate it truly was, I had people agreeing with me, and saying that they too noticed this before, but never really drew the correlation that I had.  My eye make-up has a direct correlation to the night's events.  If the night is going to be low-key and quiet, my make-up reflects that.  If my night is going to be wild, and potentially late, then my make-up is done accordingly.

Before getting ready to go anywhere for the evening, I like to know what the night is going to entail.  If we are simply planning a quick bite to eat, just the two of us, then there is no need for me to get all dolled up.  I will still put on a nice shirt and a fierce pair of heels (duh) because, after all, I still want to impress my man.  I will put some make-up on, like blush and mascara, but that's about it.  I am not really a make-up person to begin with, so that amount is sufficient.  I like to wear just enough to make me look like I tried, but I don't want to over do it.

If, however, we are going to maybe go out for drinks after dinner, then I might consider putting on the usual blush and mascara, but I'll also throw some eye shadow on too.  A like to do a fake smoky eye - I am not very good at putting make up on, so I do dabble of some dark shadow on the outside, a little dabble of the light shadow on the inside, and call it a day.  I rarely wear eye shadow during the day.  I think it's because my go-to eye look is more nighttime in my opinion.

If the decision has been made that we are going to go out - like out out, with loud music, dancing, people watching, the whole kit and kaboodle, then I will bust out the blush, the mascara, the eye shadow, and the kicker - eyeliner!!  I feel like eyeliner can go one of two ways - you can either make yourself look stunningly beautiful, or you can look like a drag queen.  I am not a fan of heavy liquid liner because it reminds me of dancing competitively when I was little.  I feel like liquid liner on me makes me look like I should be on Toddlers & Tiaras.  I don't exactly have the most grown-up features, so overdoing is never a good look for me.

So with this new found information - if you see me out and about and I am rocking the simple blush and mascara, you can be certain I have no interest in staying out late that night.  But if you see me and I am rocking some eyeliner and maybe some lip gloss, do yourself a favor and wear some comfortable shoes because we will be going all night!  :)
